Library Receives $1,000,000 Grant
We are excited to announce that YOUR Library has been awarded $1,000,000 in grant funding from the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority to partially fund the new Library building project!
As you may know, in February 2023, the Library was forced to move to a much smaller building after the previous building was abruptly closed. Two thirds of the collection was placed in storage and we no longer have a room for events. Despite these challenges, we have continued to offer the programs and services our community has come to depend on, often with the help of other local organizations.
We are eager to work toward a dedicated Library facility and are thrilled about the possibilities this new building will have for Sewickley Township. In addition to offering books and programming for all ages and supporting lifelong learning, this new building will provide access to free, reliable high-speed internet and give residents the space to take a computer class, have a telehealth visit with the doctor or attend an online job interview. It will also include a program and meeting room that, when not in use for Library events, will be available for local groups and organization. We are also happy to share the Yough School District has generously donated land adjacent to H.W. Good Elementary for the new building.
While this grant award is an amazing kickstart to our building campaign, it does not provide all funding needed to complete the project. The Library Board of Directors and Staff will continue to work tirelessly to secure further funding needed through additional grants and a capital campaign.
If you would like to help us achieve our goal of a permanent Library home as a donor, board member or volunteer with our capital campaign, please contact our Library Director, Mandy Luchs at mandy.luchs@wlnonline.org or call (724) 446-9940.
